Je suis une artiste!!

by Cat on May 12, 2009

So last night was my second show as a Featured Artsit at Java Jones through 1825 Revolver. I feel it was a small success, and it was only small because it’s stupid finals week and everyone in my audience is under the gun studying or testing. Rats. However, It ended up looking pretty great, I had my true blues come out and support, and I raffled off this sweet little thing called “LoveSong”, which I will miss dearly:p1090334

Natalie, I do hope you enjoy it and since the American Cancer Society was the charity you chose to benefit, all the raffle monies will be donated there. Which was a whopping grand total off…..$14.

Sigh.

Next time I will do the raffle all five weeks and choose the winner at the end. But it was a good idea and a good time.

Some more pictures for those of you who missed out on the festivities:

Getting ready, damn serious about this business.

Lee and Terri Peterson and I. Lee is a creative genius, so it was a thrill to invite him to my little show. Please check out his amazing photography and general brilliance at Lee Peterson Photography.

The beautiful Miss Bianca Padron of Buhdunkadunk Boards. She came early just to help me set up. I love this girl! Buy her skateboards!

How CUTE is this picture?? My bfffs Joe and Laura, without whom this blogsite would not exist. Now if I could only learn what all these buttons and gizmos are for…

Angie and Jen, more amazing people in my life. They helped me lug all my stuff home and then sat around drinking wine and making homemade nachos at midnight. What would I have done otherwise? Ruined my paintings, (again) and gone to bed at a reasonable hour on a school night? Naaaaah….

By the way, when transporting artwork, my mad Tetris skillz do not translate to real life. canvases got dented and the sad thing about this is they don’t really bounce back. However, if one sprays a little water on the back of the injured part of the canvas and then blasts it with a hairdryer, this help immensely.

This is one of my favorite shots of the night. Fantasyland! :)

So, I got some new contacts, made some new friends, and am looking forward to a little break from impossible deadlines and untackleable aspirations. Back to painting for the joy of it, not the quantity. That’s always a mistake. And perhaps back to blogging regularly? Now that I have this site I’d like to build up a readership and make more friends. So please, sign up, follow me. I’ll do the same for you. :)

Peas,

CAT
